Mira is 7 Months now!

As the shirt says, Mira has been always happy except when she is teething. She is always smiling, laughing a lot, and babbling often. Since there is no check up this month, we don't know her height and weight, but definitely she is growing! It is hard to carry her around sometimes since she is so heavy. She has been very curious about her surroundings, now she tries to reach to everything she sees. She loves to suck her thumb all the time.
このシャツの通り、歯が生えてくる時以外は、いっつもニコニコハッピーなミラです。よく微笑み、笑い、おしゃべりしています。今月は検診がなかったので、身長、体重は分かりませんが、確実に成長しています。重くて時々抱っこがきついときも。周りの物への興味もどんどん増し、必ず手を出して触ろうとします。そしていつも親指をしゃぶるのが大好き！

Teething Pain 歯が生える痛み

Since beginning of last week, Mira was waking up in a middle of night several times and crying so hard. She was even having hard time during her nap time. She was pretty fussy during the day, too. I was wondering why she was like this, since she was always happy and smiling. Then, I discovered this Tuesday that one of her front teeth was coming out! I could actually feel it. That reminded me of the horrible pain when my wisdom teeth came out. She must be feeling pain and discomfort now. One night she was crying so hard to fall asleep, so I gave her Tylenol, and she slept pretty well. I tried Orajel but it did not seem to work on her gum. She is happier now and smiling again. Oh, I love my happy girl so much!
先週の初めくらいから、なぜかミラは夜中に大泣きしながら何回も起きていました。お昼寝の時間のときも大泣き。起きているときも機嫌が悪いし、どうしてなんだろう？と不思議に思っていました。そして先週の火曜日、夜寝かせ付けたときに、あんまりにも泣くので、歯茎を触ってみると、なんと、下の前歯が一つ顔を出しているではありませんか！私も親知らずが生えたときの痛みを思い出し、かわいそうに〜と思わず同情してしまいました。その日の夜、痛み止めをあげてみると、すやすやと寝てくれたので、ほっとしました。今はまたいつも通り、ニコニコミラちゃんに戻ってくれました。良かった〜。

Let me get closer...　ちょっと近づいてみると。。。

I guess it hurts when the tooth tears gum to come out. Since the tooth is out now, she doesn't seem like being in pain. 歯が歯茎を突き破る瞬間が痛いのでしょうか。もう歯が出て来てしまっているので、それほど痛みもないようです。これから歯が生えるたび、こんな感じなのかな〜。

Sixth Month 六ヶ月目

Just modeling.... お手本を見せているところ。。。
It is almost end of September, but I did not have chance to do her 6th month report! Mira started to eat some solid food and loves most of them. So far, she had rice cereal, peas, sweet potato, carrots, apple sauce and yogurt. Now she can finish one jar of stage one baby food. Brad enjoys feeding her on weekends even though she is such a messy eater. :-) She was 20 lb. and 27&1/2 inches at her 6 months check up.

もうすぐ九月も終わりですね。六ヶ月目のレポートをなかなかアップする事が出来ませんでした。ミラは離乳食を始め、だいたい何をあげても今のところぱくぱくと機嫌良く食べてくれます。今のところ、ライスシリアル、グリーンピース、サツマイモ、人参、リンゴのすりおろし、ヨーグルトをあげてみました。たくさん食べてくれます。ブラッドも週末にはミラにご飯を食べさせてあげています。食べ物が顔や体中に付いちゃって、ちょっと汚くなるのですが、頑張ってくれてます。六ヶ月検診では、体重９２００グラム、身長７０センチでした。

Brad is giving her peas and showing how big she has to open her mouth. FYI, she is not always half naked like this. Just sometimes. :-) She is using a low chair that her grandmother was using. Isn't that amazing??? ブラッドは口を大きく開けて、お手本を見せています。いつも上半身はだかで食事をあげてる訳ではありませんので、あしからず。wミラが座っているこのイスは、ミラの祖母が使っていたものです。物持ちが良いですよね。


Started to suck her thumb. 指しゃぶりも始まりました。。。

Look how tall she became! She used to be as tall as George!ジョージと同じくらいだったのに、かなり身長が伸びました！

Trying to sit up... まだおすわりはぺしゃんこ。ちゃんとは出来ません。

Pics from Friend's Wedding & Family Reunion in July

One of my very good friends was married in the end of June, and I was in her wedding as a bridesmaid. The photographer Kate Byers took cutest pictures of Mira so I had to put them on my blog! There are so many that we liked, but this is the best one, we think.
六月の終わりにとても仲のいいお友達が結婚して、私はその子のブライズメイドをしました。その時来ていた写真家の方がとっても素敵な写真を撮ってくれたので、ブログにアップしてしまいました。他にもたくさん良い写真があったのですが、私たちはこれが一番好きです。

And these are from our annual family reunion in 4th of July weekend. These are professionally taken also. こちらの写真は七月の独立記念日の週末に毎年行われる親戚の集まりで撮った写真です。こちらも別の写真家の方に撮って頂きました。

Japanese, English, German...

Oops! It has been a while since I updated this blog. There are so many things going on around our house, and we are little hectic.

I was looking at Amazon Japan site to order some Japanese picture books for Mira one day, and Brad suggested me a great idea of getting same book in English and in Japanese! So I started searching for Eric Carle books that I love, (Very Hungry Caterpillar, Brown Bear Brown Bear, What do you see? etc.) and I have not only found them in Japanese, but also in German! Brad has taken German since he was in middle school and all the way to college, and he was very excited to read some German books for her.
前の更新からずいぶん経ってしまいましたね。ちょっとうちの事でばたばたしていたもので。。。

二ヶ月ほど前、ミラに日本語の絵本をと思い、アマゾンジャパンのサイトを見ていました。すると、ブラッドが、同じ絵本を英語と日本語で買って読んであげたら良いんじゃない？と言うので、早速、大好きなエリックカールの本（はらぺこあおむしなど。）を探してみました。すると、驚いた事にドイツ語の本まで見つかり、大喜び！というのも、ブラッドは中学から大学までドイツ語を取っていたからです。

"Very Hungry Caterpillar" in English, Japanese, and German. He loves to read this in German. This is a great book to teach her numbers, days of week, name of fruits, foods and more!
英語、日本語、そしてドイツ語の「はらぺこあおむし」です。ブラッドはドイツ語を好んで読んでいます。この本で数字や曜日、果物、食べ物の名前などを教える事が出来ます。

"Would You Be My Friend?" in Japanese and German.「ね、ぼくのともだちになって。」の日本語とドイツ語バージョン。

"Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" in Japanese and English. English version was newly illustrated edition, so they look little different. I can teach her colors and animals in this book. 「くまさんくまさんなにみてるの？」の日本語版と英語版です。英語版は十七年ほど前に絵を書き直されたので、日本語とちょっと違います。この本では動物や色を教える事が出来ます。

And of course, "Goodnight Moon"! You have to have this book, right? Japanese version doesn't rhyme like in English, so it sounds little weird reading it in Japanese, but still a cute book.
そして、アメリカでは有名な「おやすみなさいおつきさま」です。日本語バージョンは英語のように韻を踏まないので、読んでいるときに少し変ですが、とてもかわいい本です。

And I am so glad that she enjoys them all!　娘は全部の本を気に入ってくれて、嬉しかったです。

A Cheerleader チアリーダー

Yesterday was Brad's birthday, and I wanted to make a very silly birthday card. Brad bought this Georgia Tech cheerleader costume (for 18 months old :-) before Mira was born even though he is not a big fan of college football. (in fact, I believe he has been only few times to the football game while he was at Tech.) Anyways, so I took pictures of her in the outfit and put some of them on a thick paper and made a birthday card. She was having fun bouncing on a bouncer with her legs up and down. Is she a future cheerleader at Tech???? What do you all think?
昨日はブラッドの誕生日だったので、ちょっと面白いカードを作ろうと思い、ミラにブラッドが卒業した大学のロゴがついているコスチュームを着せて写真を撮りました。このコスチューム、なんとブラッドがミラが生まれる前に買って来たのです。大学のフットボールにもあんまり興味のない人なんですが、かわいかったからでしょうか。バウンサーの上にのせて、写真を撮っていたら、喜んで足をあげたり下げたり。将来チアリーダーになれるかな〜。どう思います？

Fifth Month 五ヶ月目

Buddies:-) 仲良しさん同士。

Mira started to flip from on her stomach to on her back, but she can not flip back yet. She now sleeps on her stomach and wakes herself when she flips at night, so one of us has to flip her back on her stomach! This is little tiring, but it is okay... She is still so cute...
Mira has heart murmur since she was born, and at last check up her pediatrician told us to get her checked by a specialist. We went to get her heart checked and the cardiologist told us it was a normal murmur and we did not have to worry much about it. We are so glad it was not something too serious. At the appointment, her weight was 19 lb and her height was 27 & 1/2 inches.
五ヶ月目に入る前に、寝返りを出来るようになったのですが、まだうつぶせから仰向けのみ。反対が出来ないので、夜寝ているときに寝返りを打って起きてしまい、うつぶせに戻れず泣き、私たちが起きてまた戻す、という感じ。ちょっと夜中に起こされるのはだるいですが、かわいいので許そう！
ミラは生まれたときから心雑音が会ったのですが、先月の検診でもまだあるという事で、掛かり付けの先生に専門家に診てもらうように言われました。診てもらったところ、何も問題はないという事だったので一安心。この検査では、体重約８６００グラム、身長は約７０センチでした。

Her head is sticking out from the bath tub! 頭がお風呂から飛び出しています。

She can now steal pens from her daddy's pocket and try to chew on it. She tries to touch books when I read it to her. She is getting very active and curious.
パパのポケットからペンを盗んでしゃぶろうとしたり、絵本を読んでいるとページに触ろうとして来ます。どんどんいろんな事に興味がわいて来ているようです。

Dressed up a little!　ちょっとおめかし。

We went to Atlantic Station to get some ice cream. That was yummy. 近くのアトランティックステーションというところにアイスクリームを食べに行きました。おいしかった！

Mommy's favorite bodysuit is getting too tight... How sad...　私のお気に入りのボティースーツがパンパンになってしまいました。悲しい。。。

This infant seat is getting too tight, so she is getting a convertible seat soon. このベビーシートはもうすぐ小さすぎて使えなくなるので、もう一回り大きいチャイルドシートを買わなければいけません。本当はこれは一歳くらいまで使えるはずなのですが。。。

I am glad she likes to play with the plush toy that I made. 私の作ったリンゴの編みぐるみで遊んでくれて嬉しいです。

Oh, she LOVES her excersaucer. She just screams when she is in it! このエクサソウサーが大好きで、遊んでいるときは叫び声をあげています。
